Fellowships for Summer Undergraduate Research

South Carolina Undergraduate Research Programs:

Fort Johnson Summer Research Program at the Grice Marine Laboratory
A ten week program combining formal classroom work with independent research in areas of crucial concern for marine biologists today. Up to 10 fellowships are awarded each year through the cooperative efforts of the marine laboratories at Fort Johnson.
     (Annual application deadline in early February.)

SC DNR Minorities In Marine and Environmental Science Summer Internships
The SC Department of Natural Resources, Marine Resources Division, in cooperation with the NSF and NOAA, accepts applications from minority undergraduate science students for 12-week internship positions at the Marine Resources Center on James Island.
     (Application deadline in mid-March.)

Summer Research Opportunities for Undergraduates at The Medical University of South Carolina
Multiple research training programs provide opportunities for undergraduates to become directly involved in cutting edge research leading them to a greater appreciation of the process of scientific discovery.
     (Application deadline February 1st)

Savannah River Ecology Laboratory Summer Research Experience for Undergraduates
The program offers outstanding educational and research opportunities in ecology and environmental sciences for undergraduate students. Students work closely with SREL faculty advisors on independent research projects.
     (Mid-February application deadline.)

Department of Genetics & Biochemistry at Clemson University Summer Research Experience for Undergraduates
The Department of Genetics and Biochemistry at Clemson University will offer a residential 10-week Research Experience for Undergraduates program.  Participants will include those with a background in any of the disciplines considered to be "life sciences": genetics, biochemistry, cell biology, microbiology, etc. and will be matched with ongoing research projects that best fit their interests and academic background.
     
(Mid-February application deadline.)
